Taking health personally is a mantra Proventys was founded upon, and it continues to drive the strategic aspirations and values of the company. It was the vision of founders Dr. Ralph Snyderman, MD and Jason Langheier to create a company that could help accelerate the application and benefits of personalized medicine, and to make sure that the healthcare system at large embraced its full potential.
Dr. Snyderman, Chancellor Emeritus of Duke University who served as the first President and CEO of the Duke University Health System, has been a pioneer in the field of prospective medicine which emphasizes individualized health planning as an alternative to reactive treatment. As a thought-leader in prospective medicine, he has been honored by numerous organizations, and his work is featured in several notable publications.

Given its core founding principles and roots, Proventys is intently focused on helping clinicians improve the quality of care provided to patients and having a profound impact on health outcomes.
The Disease Inflection Curve: A Founding Model
The disease inflection curve is central to our philosophy at Proventys. It helps define the diseases we focus on, the methods we use to help physicians better understand these conditions, and the strategies we employ to improve outcomes.
As first described by Dr. Ralph Snyderman in 2003, the disease inflection curve mirrors the natural progression of disease. It begins at the extreme left of the curve at birth when risk is defined by heritable traits. As age progresses and the individual is exposed to certain environmental factors, the risk of disease grows as does the ability of modern medicine to detect it. The disease will first appear molecularly before showing overt clinical signs. Ultimately, many of these chronic diseases will lead to death.
As the disease progresses from left to right on the curve, it becomes less and less reversible and more and more expensive to treat. Most medical intervention occurs now when the disease has begun to manifest itself physically, is no longer preventable and is expensive to treat. Proventys is committed to bringing solutions to the marketplace that allow physicians to move the detection of the disease farther back on the curve, and apply more personalized, preventive medicine that results in significantly better patient outcomes.
