Ralph Snyderman, MD,
Founder, Chairman
Dr. Ralph Snyderman, founder of Proventys, Inc., is also
Chancellor Emeritus, Duke University and James B. Duke Professor of Medicine at
Duke University. He served as Duke's
Chancellor for Health Affairs and Dean of the School of Medicine
from 1989 to July 2004. During his tenure, the medical school and hospital
ranked among the nation's best. Dr. Snyderman oversaw the development of the
Duke University Health System, one of the nation's most successful integrated
academic health systems, and served as its first President and Chief Executive
Officer. He has played a leading role in the conception and development of
Prospective Care, a novel approach to personalized health and an evolving model
of national health care delivery. Dr. Snyderman is called upon by Congress, the
Institute of Medicine, the National Institutes of
Health, and national policy makers to contribute to the debate on health care
reform. He plays a prominent role in the leadership of national organizations
such as the Association of American Physicians over which he presided in
2003-2004, the Institute
of Medicine, of which he
was a counselor, and the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) which
he chaired in 2001-2002. He is a member of the Institute
of Medicine and the American Academy
of Arts & Sciences.
Timothy Thompson, President and Chief Executive
Officer
Timothy Thompson is an accomplished healthcare
executive with a proven track record of building and leading high performance
organizations at early stage and Fortune 100 companies.
Prior
to assuming the role of President and Chief Executive Officer of Proventys, Mr.
Thompson was Managing Director of Business Development (Mergers & Acquisitions) at Aetna,
Inc. Mr. Thompson joined Aetna
in 2002 to lead the formation of a new informatics business, Aetna Health
Information Solutions, which was focused on monetizing the Company’s data
assets and analytic capabilities. There he built the organization from
the ground up and led the development and successful commercialization of its
market-leading, patient-centric database and analytic services.
Mr.
Thompson has also served as Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of
Business Development for PHT Corporation, an early stage, venture-backed mobile
data capture and clinical trial software company. He joined PHT after
successfully negotiating the company’s acquisition of Clinical Data Solutions,
Inc. where he had been founder and CEO. At PHT, he oversaw all functional areas
and led the organization through a period of rapid growth, commercializing its
market-leading mobile data capture solution domestically and internationally.
Mr.
Thompson received a BA in Zoology and Biochemistry from the University
of New Hampshire
where he was elected into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.
Jason Langheier, MPH, VP
& Chief Technology Officer
Jason Langheier is Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Proventys, Inc.
Mr. Langheier's goal is to aid in the reformation of the US health care
system and culture such that equal opportunities for a healthy lifestyle and
high quality of life are available to all. After receiving his BA from Williams College
and studying medical biology at Cambridge
University in England, he was
a strategy consultant for Mercer Management Consulting. In 2002, Mr. Langheier
helped design and launch the Nutrition and Fitness for Life program for
overweight youth at the Boston
Medical Center.
In 2003, he founded Fitness Forward, which creates programs to facilitate
healthy lifestyles for youth, and FitNet, LLC, which develops technologies to
empower people in creating and adhering to healthy routines. Mr. Langheier was
a Harvard Reynolds Foundation Fellow for Social Entrepreneurship while
completing an MPH in quantitative methods from the Harvard School of Public
Health. He served as an alternate representative in the American Medical
Association's House of Delegates, as chair of the AAMC's Organization of
Student Representatives, and as a member of the AAMC's Executive Council as
part of an ongoing effort to improve health care and medical education
policies. He is currently completing his MD at Duke University School of
Medicine.
Sean Tierney, Vice-President,
Business Development
Sean Tierney is
Vice-President of Business Development for Proventys. With more than 16 years
of sales and sales management experience in the healthcare technology industry,
Mr. Tierney is responsible for identifying and managing new business and
partnership opportunities for the company.
Prior to joining
Proventys, Mr. Tierney led the pharmaceutical business development effort at
Eliza Corporation, a provider of interactive automated voice applications for
the healthcare industry. His career includes sales roles at IMS Health
(formerly PharMetrics), Aetna Health Information Solutions, a business
information unit of Aetna where he served as Director, Strategic Business
Development, and Vitivity, a subsidiary of Millennium Pharmaceuticals focused
on personalized medicine where he served as Vice President of Sales.
Mr. Tierney was also Vice
President of Sales at PHT Corporation, a provider of clinical trial management
tools to pharmaceutical companies and helped raise over million in venture
funding. Mr. Tierney also spent six years at HPR Inc., a developer of healthcare
management systems where he held sales and sales management positions. During
that period, HPR had a successful IPO and was acquired by HBO and Company
(McKesson) where he was Vice President National Accounts for the Payer Solution
Group.
Mr. Tierney holds a BS
from Bryant
University
and an MBA from Syracuse University.
Dennis Reilly, Vice-President, Finance
Dennis Reilly is
Vice-President of Finance for Proventys. Mr. Reilly is a results driven
finance professional with over 15 years of high technology industry
experience. He joins the company from HighRoads, Inc., a leading provider
of technology-enabled services for Human Resources in fortune 500
companies. While at HighRoads, Mr. Reilly raised approximately $15 million in equity and venture debt financing and built infrastructure to allow
the company to scale operations.
Previously, Mr. Reilly
held various positions at PHT Corporation. As Controller, he helped raise $30 million from strategic and financial investors. Additionally, as
Global Director of Operations, he implemented systems and controls to help the
business grow and scale rapidly. Prior to PHT, Mr. Reilly served as the
Controller of Enermetrix which was acquired by CES International.
Earlier in his career,
Mr. Reilly was a senior auditor at Arthur Andersen, LLP, where he earned his
certified public accountant license. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in
Business Administration from Merrimack College.
Jim Cavnar, Vice-President, Administration and
Human Resources
Jim Cavnar is
Vice-President of Administration and Human Resources for Proventys. Mr. Cavnar
brings over 16 years of talent acquisition, executive selection and
administrative leadership experience to the organization, having arrived most
recently from Hess Corporation, where he served as Director, Talent
Acquisition. Prior to Hess, Mr. Cavnar led the staffing and administrative
functions for Aetna Health Information Solutions, the health information
business unit of parent Aetna Inc. For five years prior, he served as Director,
Executive Selection for Aetna,
where he successfully recruited numerous senior executives responsible for the
subsequent successful turnaround of that organization, resulting in increased
market capitalization of tens of billions of dollars.
Mr. Cavnar
began his career in healthcare as a senior search consultant, first with
Jackson & Coker, then later with Cejka and Company, both based in St. Louis.
During his tenure, Mr. Cavnar built relationships with several leading
healthcare and practice management organizations, such as Cleveland Clinic,
Dartmouth Hitchcock, Virginia Mason, Guthrie Clinic, PHYCOR and others, and
successfully recruited top physician and therapeutic talent needed to fill
critical roles.
Mr. Cavnar holds a
Bachelor of Science degree from Troy
University. Rick Morello, Vice-President, Marketing & Product Management
Rick Morello joined the
Proventys senior management team in May 2008 as Head of Marketing & Product Management. He is responsible for leading product strategy and execution,
strategic and product marketing, including branding, and data licensing.
Prior to joining
Proventys, Mr. Morello served as Vice President and Managing Director of Joslin
Diabetes Center’s Strategic Initiatives Division in Boston. Mr. Morello directed the
Division’s strategic and financial planning, marketing and product management
functions, business development activities and organizational processes. While
at Joslin, Mr. Morello also led the creation and spinout of Veraxa Health, a
start-up company focused on developing and marketing Joslin’s JVN retinal
imaging technology and telemedicine service for early detection of diabetic eye
disease.
Prior to joining Joslin
in 2003, Mr. Morello spent the majority of eleven years as a member of Mercer
Management Consulting where he served as a partner in the Strategy and Life
Sciences practices.
Mr.
Morello serves as a volunteer Executive Director of the Family Reach
Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing financial relief to
families fighting pediatric cancers. He received a B.A. degree in economics
from the University of Virginia and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of
Management at Northwestern
